THE 9th WINTER PINEAPPLE

What a beautiful day it was for the first tournament of the year. The Winter Pineapple is often a grand occasion - an excuse to get out and do an activity on a cold day - and this year's version was exactly that. We had a fine turnout and both matches were competitive right to the end. The weather was fine and crisp, and the park was largely empty - ideal conditions for the game.

Jai was the winner of the Gentlemen's Pineapple and Vicky won the Ladies' trophy - as they belonged to the same household they generously donated one of the fruits to our younger players. Very sporting and completely in the spirit of the game.

We headed to the Edinboro Castle for hot chocolate and mulled wine and thence into the gathering gloom. Roll on the Spring for another super match!

NOTES At the short 9th, holes in one were scored by Toria, Helen and Ben W - the were awarded golden plums! The long southern extension was cut but 11 holes were thrown - an ideal number for a large field all going round in one group.	Excellent throwing by our two younger players - Ella and Rosa - let's hope they return for another game in the future!
