Q:
WHAT'S THE BEST TYPE OF FRISBEE TO THROW? |
A:
Without a doubt, the Aerobie flies
beautifully through the air and can travel long distances with
an effortless toss. But you'll find
that most normal frisbees, if thrown
correctly, will go far and fair enough
to make the course play within most adult's abilities. |
Q:
WHAT IF THE FRISBEE ROLLS AFTER HITTING THE GROUND? |
A:
A subject much debated. One shouldn't be trying to roll the disc,
the aim of the game is to throw it accurately and strongly. But
inevitably, the circular edge of the frisbee does allow it to
roll if it makes contact with the ground rather than falling
flat on. Rolling should be allowed, but should not be played
for. |
Q:
THE LAWN DOESN'T LOOK LIKE IT DOES IN THE PICTURES - IT'S HARD
TO FIND THE HOLES. |
A:
Naturally the seasons change the way the lawn looks. The photographs
were taken in late September with many of the trees showing their
early Autumn colours. In winter, obviously many of the trees
will be leafless and a new series of photographs will be uploaded. |
Q:
CAN KIDS PLAY THE COURSE WITH ME? |
A:
Yes. You're never too young to throw a frisbee. But you might
like to give them a handicap start on the holes, maybe a couple
of shots each time, or play closer targets. |
Q:
WHAT IF MY FRISBEE GOES OUT OF BOUNDS? |
A:
You lose a shot and have to play again from where you threw last.
It's harsh, but accuracy matters in this game. |
Q:
WHY AREN'T THERE HOLE POLES LIKE IN THE AMERICAN SPORT? |
A:
The Cumberland Lawn is not a professional PDGA style Disc Golf
course and has no intentions of being so. We play in a relaxed,
gentle way and, while we admire the technical achievements of
designed courses with holepoles, cement tees etc, the course
is part of the park and takes the trees the way they come. |
Q:
ARE THERE ANY TOURNAMENTS RUN BY THE CLFTGC? |
A:
An Autumn Invitational is planned for this November and further
matches will be played at least quarterly after that. The course
is there for everyone though and nothing would give the Club
more pleasure than to hear of casually organised matches. Please
contact us if you want to
play in one of these matches, or if you have a report you wish
to post here. |
