THE 5th WINTER PINEAPPLE

4th FEBRUARY 2007

On Sunday 4th February 2007 the Club assembled for the fifth annual Winter Pineapple. The night before had been cold and the morning had begun misty and brisk, but as so often happens, the weather broke in time for the round and most of the game was played in beautiful winter sunshine.

There was a super turnout - more players went around the course than we had seen since the inaugural Pineapple in 2003. Two groups headed out with Dave G1 leading the first and Ben M the second. Joanna scored the second group and did so with charm and accuracy.

The playing was of a very high standard again with the aerobie players once more showing the value of that disc. There is call for a handicap for the use of such a superior piece of equipment compared to the quality of many of the other frisbees. The Club is eager to hear comments and suggestions on this matter from members.

Jane was the winner of the Ladies' Pineapple, using an aerobie. There was a three-way tie for the Gentlemen's between Richard, Ben W and Colin, all three once again equipped with aerobies. They played off at the short eleventh with Ben W the only player to get a hole in one. He was then declared the winner.

We repaired to the now traditional pub of the Edinboro Castle for lunch and a well deserved drink.

In all, another excellent FTG Sunday, with three new players joining the club and  a thrilling conclusion to the tournament.
