THE 6th SUMMER WATERMELON 31st AUGUST 2008 |
Once again the weather prospects were not good for the day of the club's third tournament of 2008, but the expected deluge did not come and the club assembled on a misty morning with very little wind. Just coming in at the end of the last month considered part of Summer, the tournament was announced at short notice so turnout was small but enthusisastic. Four rookies took to the course and everyone had a fine time, despite the occasional shower. It was decided to skip the usual holes 4 and 5 and throw from the target tree of hole 3 to hole 6. With two Rob Ss in the field, we had to distinguish them by the colour of their Tshirts, and Rob Whiteshirt was an impressive winner (and a rare non-aerobie user) of the Men's melon - a canteloupe rather than a watermelon for the sake of weight and the fact they were on a 2for1 offer at the supermarket. Toria won the Ladie's melon. We then headed to the Edinboro Castle for drinks and fine Sunday lunch. Let's hope we have such luck with the weather in November for the Autumn Aubergine!
