THE AUTUMN AUBERGINE 18th November 2007 |
After a cold week in London and with heavy rain forecast for the day, the Club expected a low turnout for the Aubergine. However 11 players threw for at least part of the course, including three rookies and one player returning for the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2003. The wind was biting but we set off in good spirits just after 1pm. Despite a few amendments to the usual course (only 11 holes were played) it was played with fun and sportsmanship. The aerobies were susceptible to the updrafts and a number of times they got caught in trees or went over hedges. Sadly we lost one for good on the 6th hole. Pru was the clear winner of the Ladies' Aubergine with an excellent score of 38. Jai and Ben W tied for the Men's tournament and Jai was awarded the prize when Ben admitted he could not cook it for a number of weeks. Such sportsmanship is admired and very much in the tradition of the game. After the round we repaired to the Edinboro Castle for prize giving and some warming drinks. All the best to everyone who took part in the Club's tournaments over the course of 2007 and we look forward to welcoming you all in February for the Winter Pineapple! |
